Celebrating 30 Years Building Homes in Colorado
Looking back to when we started Apex Mountain Homes, I remember thinking we wanted to be a company that would be around for many years. A quarter-century goes pretty fast! The good Lord has blessed me with so many great clients, trusted suppliers, valued employees, and steadfast business partners. My wife and family have been extremely supportive of me throughout my career. I’ve never done anything else for a living, and wouldn’t change it if I could. A heartfelt thanks to all!

We believe that strong relationships, based on the values of commitment, integrity, honesty, and genuine caring, enable us to deliver the superior quality luxury homes for which we are known.
From the moment we meet a new client to the time we hand them the keys, to long after when we remain friends, we focus on fostering lasting connections. Clark Johnson, Owner
Clark was born in heartland USA. Growing up in Eldora, Iowa, Clark learned to ski in Iowa and Minnesota and was introduced to building projects in high school by his wood shop teacher. Although he came to Colorado to seek out big mountain skiing, he soon discovered the joy of building mountain homes with elements of rock, big timbers, and rustic woods. Clark gives credit for his entry into home building to Josh Cohen, a builder he met and worked for in his early days in Summit County, as well as Brian and Phylecia Platte, the original owners of Apex Mountain Homes. For 5 years Clark worked for AMH "hands on" in dozens of home building projects. Now the owner of AMH, Clark credits Brian and Phylecia Platte with the many "win-win" business practices that he employs in the current Apex Mountain Homes organization. This experience in home building along with college courses in business management and architecture, provides clients with a unique set of skills necessary for a beautiful mountain home. Clark continues his love of mountain sports including skiing and biking. He regularly contributes to worthy causes in Summit County including Rotary, Breckenridge Backstage Theatre, and his church. In marketing Apex Mountain Homes, Clark depends on his many satisfied customers, and especially the September Summit County Parade of Homes, where he annually shows an AMH home. July 4th of every year Clark throws a wonderful outdoor party for all his past clients. This party sometimes includes prospective clients who can talk to Clark and AMH home owners who share their experiences building with AMH.Community Involvement
We belong to the Rotary Club of Summit County, the Better Business Bureau, the Summit County Builder’s Association, Breckenridge Resort Chamber, the Summit Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Association of Home Builders, the National Association of Home Builders, Summit Independent Business Alliance, the Summit County Business Forum, and we are Energy Star Partners. We believe in volunteering our time, energy, wisdom and money to this extraordinary community we call home.Brian G. Platte Donor Advised Fund
In honor of the original founder of Apex Mountain Homes, we created the Brian G. Platte Donor Advised Fund administered by the Summit Foundation. We have contributed more than $90,000 to the fund so far. Each year, we review grant applications to see where we can maximize our impact in the community. In the past two years, we have helped the Christ Lutheran Early Childhood program with a fence around their playground and we have also contributed a van to help transport Summit County kids to the Vail Christian High School.Featured on Houzz - Silverthorne Home Builders
